Be Peace: A Call to Action

Liz Glover Wilson

We all want peace.

We want our lives to be more peaceful.

We say that we "just want to live in peace!" In fact, we spend so much time lamenting all that pushes against this peaceful life we imagine and crave.

We sulk and ponder 'why' so many tings are going wrong. We worry about all the stuff that threatens our peace; especially future threats. We are resentful towards those that 'mess with' our peace, and wish them out of our lives.

We blame conditions, world events, toxins, rude people, and anything we can for us not having access to a peaceful life.

I invite you to consider this - that peace cannot be taken, destroyed, or threatened.

In Hebrew, the word Shalom means more than a greeting. It is a blessing of wholeness, harmony, welfare, and peace.

The Hebrew word, Shalom, most fundamentally means reconciliation with God/Divine; optimizing states of health, inner peace, and spiritual well-being.

Shalom embodied / experienced reflects a multidimensional, complete well-being; in our minds, bodies, spirits, and relationships. It is the realization of (the possibility) for oneness / harmony.

It is a call to BE PEACE.

In addition, when we embody Shalom we are asked to commit to a mindful journey of self-study ;nurturing the deeper needs of our bodies and minds. We do our best, and absorb strength and energy from the Divine. This involves courage, self-compassion, persistence, and advocacy. Other times, it may mean surrendering and trusting that which is outside of our control or understanding.

SHALOM / SHANTI
I DO NOT WISH YOU PEACE
I WISH YOU THE PRESENCE
AND COURAGE TO EMBODY
PEACE AND BE PART OF
THE COLLECTIVE CONSCIOUNSESS
FOR EXPERIENCED ONENESS
TO BE PEACE
TO HARMONIZE

Imagine if we all could embody / experience Shalom, as the Beatles asked us to . . .

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky

Imagine all the people living for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too

Imagine all the people living life in peace, you
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people sharing all the world, you
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one

About the photo in this article:
The town of Pamukkale in Turkey is celebrated for its natural travertine terraces which cascade down its hillside like clouds. These 17 mineral-rich thermal pools attract thousands of tourists each year and are part of an ancient Roman spa city. The pools are formed by calcium carbonate deposits on the surface of the water.
